Brilliantly written and extremely acerbic rant on the different races, cultures, and classes in NYC. Taken from Spike Lee’s excellent, but not often talked about, film “25th Hour.” Starring Edward Norton, the always outstanding Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Rosario Dawson, Anna Paquin, Brian Cox, and Barry Pepper.
For an interesting and insightful commentary on the movie, check out this post on Enno Jacobsen’s blog.
You can also watch the scene here if it’s not downloading fast enough on the page.

John C. Reilly has never been better than this scene. The still innocent, eager to please, pre-Dirk and Reed Rothschild meet for the first time at Jack’s party. “Boogie Nights” is still one of the finest films I have ever seen. Every time I see it, I am more impressed. You should watch this movie again.
Thought it up. Made it happen.
And…this pretty much sums up what I’m looking forward to seeing in Tim Burton’s Alice In Wonderland.
Here’s the description of the crib from the Italian eBay site – just to make you love it a little bit more.
ENG (with google translate) : It goes back to 1875 this cradle Thonet, Thonet catalog bears the date 1830. was done by me personally restored by early 2007: stripping, antitarlo syringe and buffer, stucatura, polishing. The cot is in excellent condition, something important: to restore the run but I did not give any final finish or color. This is because I wanted to give the new owner the choice of color. I advice beech natural color or a simple rubber lacquer. Perfectly usable and a prestigious gift.
Personally I find the nest so beautiful with the natural actions visible, but the fact remains that with a few tens of euros and 2 in the hands of shellac over the cradle can return virtually “new” depends only on personal taste.
The cradle have all the original screws and especially hubs to make it wobble are original dell ‘era, also restored. the cradle still the original pin to lock the oscillation.
This object is not only a valuable investment that is more usable and livable, I have bought to restore it and use it for my son …… now it is grown.
I believe it can also be an important gift of impact.
Here’s her acceptance speech from last night’s Critic Choice Awards, which she co-won with Meryl Streep.
Ridiculous. I love it.
I’ve been traveling and working so much lately, I didn’t have time to gift wrap this. But I thought you could use a little piece of perfect to get you through the end run of the year. This movie clip is clearly one of my favorites, with pitch-perfect art direction, outstanding casting, and sick-sick dark humor. I love it.
It’s a story from Woody Allen’s dark, self-reflective comedy, “Deconstructing Harry.” Underrated in my book.
I stumbled on a gorgeous website called Nerd Boyfriend. Brilliant in concept, execution, and style.
Swoon-worthy vintage photos of men in their yesteryear prime decked out in impossibly, but perennially cool clothes. Underneath each shot are photo links of the modern equivalent of some of the items that take you right to the online store. And that’s it. No commentary, no headlines, no nothing to detract from the essence of what it is – delicious eye candy with impeccable style.
What a great shopping experience. Ladies, send your man the link and let him know: Baby, if it’s cool enough for Cassavettes in the 70s or Kinski in the 60s, it’s cool enough for you. Gentlemen, it’s pretty much a museum tour of Hot Damn! Through The Ages.
